Getting Your Real Estate Life Together: Q&A with Kenyon Hunter

Name, Location and how long have you been an Agent

Kenyon Hunter, New Jersey, 5 years

How do you stand apart from other agents?

I believe my genuine goal of helping people achieve their goals illuminates around my persona... as a leader and coach, that includes helping other agents be successful too.  I'm never looking to sell anyone anything. I truly understand home is not a place, it's a feeling and my number one priority is helping someone successfully love life where they live. I believe we are going to get it done, whether buying, selling, investing or leasing... and we're going to have a lot of fun in the process!

What is the key to attaining long-term clients?

Clients are looking for a trusted advisor and professional representative to successfully get them to the settlement table.  The key is you have to work hard and create a real estate experience parallel to none by being exceptional in all aspects of the process.  Another major key is, build a relationship that is not just about real estate by investing in the enrichment of your client's lives in anyway you can.  All of my clients become friends...and friends refer, support and endorse their friend's businesses!

What marketing method is most effective for you and why?

For me, growing and nurturing your Sphere of Influence (SOI), building your brand on social media outlets like Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, in addition to utilizing unique cool marketing tools like All Things Real Estate :) to accentuate your business and client successes.  In today's world, staying in front of your audience is major.  There's no better way to reach your audience than social media.  Literally being able to gain visibility to thousands of people with a click!  Displaying your brand and exceptional ability to serve your clients while also giving people a sense of who you are. People ultimately love working with people they like, and will help bring more opportunities for your business.

What routine do you implement in your daily real estate life?

I work my SOI daily.  Whether it's social media, email, texts, phone calls, or face to face meetings,  I always want my SOI and their SOIs to know that we are ready to assist them or their clients.  At the core of it all, we help people buy, sell, invest and lease real estate... so we need to be focused on actionable activities around that.  I manage this via our CRM.  I highly recommend utilizing all the tools and technologies pertinent to your business daily.

What are your DO's & DON'TS when it comes to conversation starters?

DO listen more than you talk.  Be curious about the person on the other side of the conversation.  DON'T be all business and no fun.  DON'T miss opportunities to grow, learn and align yourself to be of great service to someone. Once again, people choose to work with people they like!

Which goals are you looking to achieve this year and what will it take to meet them?

My goals are two-fold:  To help my team and other agents to succeed at their highest desired levels by delivering a real estate experience to our clients like no other.  To achieve this, I must become one of the most inspiring, motivating and empowering figures in the world and continue to lead by example.

What's one piece of advice you would give a new agent?

Fall in love with both what a real estate professional is and what it looks like.  It's hard work beneath the surface, but the great thing is you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Just be diligent and fanatical about helping people while following a system that works for you.  Find mentors, coaches and colleagues that inspire you and spend time with those people most!
