Getting Your Real Estate Life Together: Q&A with Danielle "Deejay" Berry

Name, Location and how long have you been an Agent

Danielle "Deejay" Berry, Portsmouth, NH - Seacoast New Hampshire & Southern Maine. Licensed Realtor for 11 years and been working in the Real Estate world for 16 years.

How do you stand apart from other agents?

I believe that staying authentic and true to who you are automatically sets you apart from others in business. My goal is always to provide my clients with great communication & trust throughout the process to assure their questions are always answered and they feel heard. I believe in treating people fairly and honestly to have a positive impact throughout the transaction and beyond the sale. I also try and make the process as fun as possible. At my first meeting with clients, I do my best to encourage them to enjoy this exciting time, trust that I have their best interest at heart and will guide them through every stage.

What is the key to attaining long-term clients?

I genuinely care for my clients and I make a point to learn about them and their lives. Really getting to know them helps in a number of ways. It helps me understand what is important to them and how to best help. It can also be the start of real friendships. I love when clients send me photos and progress updates after moving into their homes. I always follow up with my clients, letting them know I'm still here even after the transaction has closed.

What marketing method is most effective for you and why?

Social media has been a huge part of my business. It allows me to connect with so many people & other agents. It's a place for me to showcase a little of who I am in my professional life & my personal life. Another way I obtain new business is from referrals from past clients…if you connect and do good by your clients they will always be willing to refer your name out to their friends and family who trust them. Be somebody that your clients would be proud to recommend to their friends and family. Word of mouth is key!

What routine do you implement in your daily real estate life?

I can’t say there are many days that are like the rest in Real Estate - that’s what make this career so unique. I keep a pretty regular morning routine that involves coffee and my dogs to help me prepare for the day. When it comes to routines with the job, every transaction and situation are quite different so I focus on keeping open lines of communication with my clients at all times. Simply letting them know you are here and working behind the scenes goes a long way to enhance the client experience.

What are your DO's & DON'TS when it comes to conversation starters?

I do my best to take interest in my clients’ lives. I try to get to know who they are, where they’ve been, and not just their names and information but also personalities. This helps me connect with them and lets me do my best work. I want my clients to know they can speak freely to me about anything - this is a safe space with no judgment. Ask away!

Which goals are you looking to achieve this year and what will it take to meet them?

I always strive for my clients to have an enjoyable experience. The best thing I can hear from a client after a closing is, “wow, that was way easier and less stressful than I thought!” I work hard to make each client feel like they are my only client, have all my attention and care to get them through the sale successfully.

What's one piece of advice you would give a new agent?

Know your Contracts. I REPEAT, know your Contracts…inside and out! Don’t be afraid to ask for help or have a second set of eyes on something before having clients sign and execute. Learn as much as you can from reputable, experienced agents. Arming yourself with this knowledge allows you to serve your clients in the best way possible.
