Getting Your Real Estate Life Together: Q&A with Wayne Whiting

Name, Location and how long have you been an Agent

Wayne Whiting, Richmond, VA, 2 years

How do you stand apart from other agents?

I stand apart from other agents (outside of being 6'7" and looking like I play in the NFL) by the fact that I am able to put myself in my client's shoes and have the expertise to help navigate the crazy world of Real Estate.

What is the key to attaining long-term clients?

The key is to be relatable, personable but also know what the H-E double hockey sticks you're doing throughout the transaction.

What marketing method is most effective for you and why?

I love me some Open Houses. Standing in some stranger's home waiting to talk to other strangers about some real estate - I love it! Makes you have to find common ground quickly and effectively or they're on to the next open house.

What routine do you implement in your daily real estate life?

Working out at Orange Theory Fitness Glenside really helps me stay energized throughout the day and allows me to be on the horn talking to whomever wants to listen to me talk about real estate.

What are your DO's & DON'TS when it comes to conversation starters?

Do not assume you know the person that you are talking to i.e just because they are tall doesn't mean they know "Hows the weather up there" lol DO challenge yourself to find common ground by having some fact finding questions. Find something that makes them light up like the sun, they're more likely to like you!

Which goals are you looking to achieve this year and what will it take to meet them?

My Real Estate goal is to close 15 million this year and also read 30 books (does audio books count?) How I will get those accomplished is to do the little things each and every day. Carving time out of the day with tasks that can help me reach my goal such as setting a number for client appointments/lunches a week. This helps grow my business without me really thinking about it.

What's one piece of advice you would give a new agent?

My best advice would be to join a Rec League team if you're into sports. You can interact with folks and get your name out there. The Rec League happy hours can help if you're shy.
